When teachers start their sex education instruction, many worry about parent reactions. This two day training will outline effective approaches for proactively partnering with families when teaching sex ed, and introduce strategies for responding to parents when they voice concerns. Educators will have a chance to learn strategies in a workshop setting, and then apply their new knowledge and skills through practice using interaction with virtual parent avatars.

Racial Justice and Sex Education: Strategies to Create Safe Learning Spaces for Youth
November 8-9, 2022 at 1:00-2:30 PM EST Daily
This two-day training will focus on the connection that racial justice has with complete sex education. Participants will complete a training on what is racial justice, why it is necessary, and then identify key strategies to integrate in sex education classrooms. This training is ideal for those working directly with youth with a focus on creating responsive and affirming spaces that recognize racial inequalities and its impact on the health and well-being of young people around the country. Participants will then have the ability to practice the newly learned strategies via the Virtual PD classroom and our student avatars. This immersive experience will give participants the ability to be coached by their subject matter expert on how to best integrate these strategies to impact the education received by our youth.

201: Creating and Amplifying LGBT Affirming Practices
November 15-16, 2022 @ 2:00-3:30 PM EST Daily
This session will provide a deep dive into the exclusionary vs. tolerant vs. inclusive vs. affirming practices regarding LGBT students. This training will provide attendees with realistic strategies to create a safe and welcoming learning environment for LGBT students while highlighting affirming practices that can be applied to any sex education curriculum.

Teaching Family Life and Sex Education in Grades K-2
November 30- December 1, 2022 at 2:00-3:30 PM EST Daily
This session will provide an overview of the developmental milestones and age-appropriate content for students in elementary school. Content will include teaching about boundaries, consent, puberty, sexual abuse prevention, healthy relationships and diverse families. Join us for an interactive training designed to increase your comfort and competence to teach about these vital issues to our students in the elementary grades.
